From ancient bronze sculptures to Egyptian mummies and archaeological finds from the Indus Valley, it’s the kind of place where every room tells a completely different story.

What to See First

  • Bronze Gallery: One of the museum’s crown jewels. The bronze statues of Shiva, Nataraja, Parvati, and Krishna from the Chola dynasty. These statures are some of the finest examples of Indian craftsmanship.
  • Amaravati Gallery: Features Buddhist relics and carvings dating back to the 2nd century BCE. These are breathtakingly gorgeous and full of history.
  • Natural History Section: Life-size models of animals, fossils, and a deep dive into Tamil Nadu’s biodiversity. It not just great for kids but curious adults too!
  • Art Gallery: From Tanjore paintings to Ravi Varma classics, it’s a visual journey across styles and eras.
  • Children’s Museum: Hands-on displays, puzzles, and science experiments. Perfect if you’re visiting with young explorers.
And yes, there’s even an Egyptian mummy in the Anthropology section, complete with sarcophagus!
